The festival, organized by the Esprit de Fez Foundation, will feature 200 artists from 15 countries, including Turkey, France, Spain, Switzerland, Oman, and several African nations. Italy, renowned for its historical role in the Renaissance, will be the guest of honor.
The opening night will offer a unique musical and scenographic experience, immersing audiences in a journey through diverse cultural traditions, the organizers said in a press release.
“The theme aligns with Morocco’s position as a hub of cultural and artistic renewal,” the press release said, adding that the festival, now in its 28th year, continues to uphold Fez’s legacy as a center of coexistence and tolerance.
Abderrafih Zouitene, President of the Esprit de Fez Foundation, said the festival underscores Fez’s historical role as a crossroads of civilizations, influencing Mediterranean and African cultural exchanges.
The 2025 edition will further emphasize its African ties, paying tribute to the continent’s rich heritage and the need to preserve and transmit its traditions. The festival also aligns with Morocco’s broader commitment to South-South cooperation.
Italy’s selection as the country of honor reflects its deep historical connections to cultural renewal. Florence, a symbol of the European Renaissance and twinned with Fez in a unique cultural partnership, will also be highlighted, reinforcing the festival’s mission to bridge cultures and eras.
