These accidents were mainly due to drivers’ inattention, failure to give priority, speeding and failure to keep a safe distance, DGSN pointed out in a press release.
Regarding the control and enforcement of traffic violations, the security services issued 54,079 tickets, submitted 10,317 reports to the public prosecutor’s office, and collected 43,762 transactional fines totaling MAD 9.6 million, according to the same source.
The DGSN also reported the impoundment of 5,521 vehicles, the withdrawal of 10,317 driving licences and the immobilization of 349 vehicles.
Thirteen people were killed and 2,876 injured, 93 of them seriously, in the 2,160 road accidents that occurred in urban areas during the period stretching from February 10-16, according to the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN).
