This event aims to promote the cultural and gastronomic plurality of the Rabat Business School campus, represented by colorful stands ran by students and educators from various countries.
Speaking on the occasion, Badrdine Boulaid, officer in charge of Incoming Mobility and organizer of the event, told MAP he was delighted to honor the unity and diversity of the RBS campus.
“This 4th edition is made more special thanks to a record diverse number of participants (24 countries) from Europe, Asia and Africa, including Austria, Belgium, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire and Russia, as well as the first participation of Suriname, Croatia and Costa Rica”, he noted.
For Dr. Muzhar Javed, Pakistani Associate Professor at the Management Sciences Department, this is a celebration of diversity and inclusion for UIR students and supervisors, in addition to guests from different backgrounds.
“We’re delighted to be representing our country through our stand displaying traditional costumes and culinary arts from the country”, he told MAP, adding that, for this edition, the Pakistani stand was keen on doubling the quantity of “biryani”, the country’s emblematic dish, highly sought after at the previous edition.
Sanjana Soemeer, an exchange student at RBS representing her native Suriname, expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity offered by this event to promote her local culture in Morocco.
“We’re a little-known country and this day is a great opportunity to promote Suriname as a destination, bringing a touch of South America to Africa,” she excitedly told MAP.
Donning traditional attire celebrating Suriname’s indigenous, Indian and Creole cultures, the student seized the opportunity to showcase the South American country’s diverse culinary specialties to the public.
Tommy Souphan (Belgium), a 2nd year Master’s student in International Finance, was impressed by the cultural plurality of the campus, especially as this was his first experience in Africa.
“I’m discovering new cultures today, and I was particularly amazed by what the Chad stand had to offer,” he enthused.
In turn, Abdulmalik Olarinoye Salau, Assistant Professor at Rabat Business School, expressed his delight at taking part in RBS International Day for the first time. Originally from Nigeria and newly settled in Morocco, the teacher praised the rich cultural exchanges he witnessed throughout the day.
According to him, the day provided an opportunity to discover and taste various traditional dishes, highlighting the similarities and differences between Nigerian, Nigerien and Congolese dishes, which were presented at this gathering by students from these countries.
The program of the 4th RBS International Day program included tastings of emblematic flavors from near and far, music and dance from sub-Saharan Africa, notably Gabon, and plays highlighting different aspects of African societies.
Held for the first time in 2021, Rabat Business School’s International Day is a leading event to revel in cultural plurality, thanks to the mobilization of international professors and students to represent their respective countries and share their culture and traditions with the whole community.
