These accidents were mainly due to drivers’ inattention, failure to give right of way, speeding, pedestrians’ inattention and failure to keep a safe distance, DGSN pointed out on Tuesday in a press release.
With regard to the control and repression of traffic offenses, the security services drew up 46,102 tickets, 8,228 reports submitted to the public prosecutor’s office, while 37,874 transactional fines were collected, amounting to over 8.3 million dirhams, according to the same source.
The DGSN also reported the impoundment and the immobilization of 4,292 and 280 vehicles, respectively.
Eighteen people were killed and 2,583 injured, 111 of them seriously, in the 2,006 road accidents that occurred in urban areas from October 28 to November 3, according to the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN).
