Involving the creation of a “Sino-Moroccan Laboratory for Green Energy and Advanced Materials,” this agreement was signed by UCD’s National School of Applied Sciences (ENSAJ), Xi’an Technology University, and Huadian Heavy Industries and Huadian Lanco Technologies.

In a statement to MAP, Abdelowahed Hajjaji, ENSAJ’s director, explained that this initiative seeks to strengthen scientific cooperation between Morocco and China, and contribute to the energy transition by developing cutting-edge solutions in the field of renewable energies and advanced materials.

This laboratory, he added, is focused on innovation in crucial areas such as photovoltaics and green hydrogen, sectors booming in the Kingdom.

Hajjaji stated that a research team from the ENSAJ’s Engineering Sciences Laboratory for Energy LabSIPE had already collaborated on green energy storage projects, with international partners from France namely. This partnership showcased the level of Moroccan expertise in managing and optimizing renewable energies.

“This joint laboratory,” he detailed, “will be more than just an infrastructure. It will become a hub of environmental innovation, while drawing on the shared expertise of Moroccan and Chinese researchers.”

It is also designed as a training and skills transfer platform for young researchers from both countries, opening up promising prospects for a green and sustainable economy, adapted to the 21st century’s environmental challenges.

This partnership embodies the solid and lasting relationship between Morocco and China, with a shared commitment to reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency, he concluded.

A scientific partnership agreement was concluded between Chouaib Doukkali University (UCD) and Chinese operators to collaborate in the field clean energy on Wednesday in El Jadida.
