The Kingdom is represented at this session, held at FAO headquarters until October 25th under the theme “50 Years of CFS: Acting Together for a world free from hunger and malnutrition”, by a delegation headed by Morocco’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Rome-based UN agencies Youssef Balla.

This new session of the CFS focuses on urgent action to combat severe food crises resulting from conflicts and aims to strengthen the governance mechanisms of UN agencies, with a view to achieving sustainable transformation of food and agricultural systems.

During this four-day session, the Moroccan delegation will highlight the Kingdom’s commitment to the fundamental principles of the CFS, including the adoption of key policy recommendations, such as the reduction of inequalities in food security and nutrition, and the application of voluntary guidelines on the gradual achievement of the right to adequate food.

In addition, the Moroccan delegation will host a side-event, dedicated to discussing ways of accelerating the reduction of inequalities through investment in entrepreneurship.

This event, attended by OCP Group, aims to raise awareness of the persisting gap in food systems and to explore concrete solutions to reduce these inequalities, reiterating Morocco’s commitment to an inclusive and equitable approach to food security worldwide.

The Committee on World Food Security (CFS) is the main international intergovernmental platform dedicated to coordinating food security and nutrition policies. Established in 1974, the CFS brings together governments, UN agencies, civil society, the private sector and other stakeholders to debate and adopt policies aimed at eradicating hunger and malnutrition worldwide, in order to promote collaborative and inclusive approaches to strengthening global food security, with a particular focus on vulnerable groups, gender equality and the sustainable development of food systems.

The 52nd session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) kicked off on Monday in Rome, with Morocco's participation.
