Speaking at the opening of the first African National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs) Forum, held in Rabat in partnership with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the Moroccan Anti-Doping Agency (AMAD), the minister recalled that Morocco ratified the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport in 2007 and the Council of Europe’s convention in 2013, reinforcing the country’s legal framework to combat doping in sport.
“Doping threatens not only the health of athletes but also undermines the principles of fairness and integrity in competition,” Berrada said, calling on all sports stakeholders to work together to preserve core values such as perseverance, respect, and clean performance.
For his part, AMAD President Fatima Abouali said the agency plays a growing role in regional cooperation on anti-doping.
Since its creation, AMAD has prioritized training, public awareness campaigns, and partnerships with sports institutions, healthcare professionals, and the media to strengthen Morocco’s anti-doping system, she said.
The two-day forum brings together representatives from national anti-doping bodies across Africa. Panel discussions are expected to focus on athlete empowerment, innovation in anti-doping, regional cooperation, and preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Organizers say the event aims to enhance continental collaboration and promote harmonized responses to doping challenges.
