The discussions focused on ways to further strengthen the multifaceted strategic partnership between Morocco and the United States, and to consult on regional and international issues of common interest.

During his two-day working visit to the U.S. federal capital, Bourita held talks with several chairs of key congressional committees, including Senator Lindsey Graham, Representatives Brian Mast, Joe Wilson, and Mario Diaz-Balart, as well as members of the Abraham Accords Caucus from both houses.

The discussions reflected bipartisan support in Congress for the United States’ reaffirmation of its recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, in line with the position previously conveyed by President Donald Trump to His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

Members of Congress also praised the leadership of His Majesty the King in promoting regional and international peace and security.

The United States supports Morocco in fostering peace, Joe Wilson stated following his discussions with Bourita, noting that the talks focused on the two countries’ long-standing partnership and their shared commitment to peace in the region, particularly the stability of the Sahara in the face of the +polisario+ terrorists.

By reaffirming its recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, the United States is underscoring the consistency of its position, while also commending Morocco’s role in promoting peace and prosperity under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart stated.

Under the reign of HM the King, Morocco has become an essential ally and partner of the United States for peace in the Middle East, he added.

Bourita’s meetings in Washington underscored the commitment of both countries to further enrich and expand their multidimensional strategic alliance, which encompasses political cooperation, trade and investment, digital innovation, artificial intelligence, and security.

In a readout by the State Department following the talks between U.S. diplomacy chief Marco Rubio and Bourita, both officials ” affirmed the strong U.S.-Morocco partnership in advancing peace and security, under President Trump’s and HM King Mohammed VI’s leadership.”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, held a series of meetings in Washington with several influential U.S. Congressmen.
