Organized by the Embassy of El Salvador in Morocco in partnership with the Instituto Cervantes of Tangier, the exhibition features 23 works by 17 artists from the Central American nation. The pieces on display reflect a rich variety of styles, blending urban graffiti, traditional portraiture, and vivid landscapes.

Notable participating artists include Madger Linares, Renacho Melgar, and Carlos Ovidio Rosales, whose works explore themes of identity, memory, and the natural beauty of El Salvador. Their creations offer visitors a poetic and powerful glimpse into Salvadoran culture.

“This is the largest exhibition of Salvadoran art ever presented in Africa,” said Ignacio de Cossío, El Salvador’s ambassador to Morocco. “These works reflect a deep-rooted memory within Salvadoran society and showcase the natural wealth of our homeland.”

Speaking to the press, Ambassador de Cossío praised Tangier as a hub of cultural exchange. “Tangier is an international, welcoming, and hospitable city; a true crossroads of civilizations,” he said.

Juan Vicente Piqueras, director of the Cervantes Institute in Tangier, noted the increasing interest among Moroccan audiences in Ibero-American art and culture. He emphasized that such exhibitions serve to foster dialogue between Morocco, the Arab world, and Hispanic cultures.

During the event, the ambassador presented an acknowledgement plaque to Omar Kadaoui, Honorary Consul of El Salvador in the northern region of Morocco and president of the Moroccan-Salvadoran Association of Friendship and Cooperation, recognizing his efforts to strengthen ties between the two nations.

The Instituto Cervantes in Tangier opened its doors Friday evening to El Salvador: Belleza en Colores (Beauty in Colors), a new exhibition showcasing contemporary Salvadoran art.
