Darderi, succeeding his compatriot Matteo Berrettini, claimed the clay court title after a tightly contested match that ended in straight sets, 7-6, 7-6.

Top seed Griekspoor was unable to impose his playing style throughout the match, which lasted over two hours against the seventh-seeded Italian, who remained focused from the start.

Darderi, capturing his first Grand Prix Hassan II title, had secured his spot in the final on Saturday after defeating Spain’s Roberto Carballés Baena, the tournament’s fifth seed, in straight sets (6-3, 6-2).

Griekspoor reached the final after overcoming Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak – the breakout player of this edition – in straight sets (7-5, 7-6).

Speaking to the press, Darderi expressed his delight at winning his first Grand Prix Hassan II title.

He also acknowledged the strong support from both Moroccan and Italian fans, who encouraged him throughout the hard-fought and balanced match.

Tournament director Hicham Arazi noted that the final featured two exceptional players who delivered an entertaining performance in front of a large crowd at the Royal Tennis Club of Marrakech (RTCMA). He emphasized that the tournament has become a key event, given the participation of world-class players.

The final was attended by Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports Mohamed Saad Berrada, Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region and governor of the Marrakech prefecture Farid Chourak, President of the Royal Moroccan Tennis Federation Fayçal Laraïchi, and several civil and military figures.

Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the 39th Grand Prix Hassan II Tennis Tournament, contested on the courts of RTCMA, featured renowned tennis players in a highly competitive clay court event.

As the only ATP 250 tournament in Africa, the Grand Prix Hassan II brings together world-class players each year, competing for this prestigious title.

Italian tennis player Luciano Darderi won the 39th edition of the Grand Prix Hassan II Tennis Tournament on Sunday in Marrakech, defeating Dutch opponent Tallon Griekspoor in the final.
