In a statement to the press following the meeting, Barrot said he was “very happy to be alongside the Head of the Moroccan Government at the SIA at the Moroccan stand”, especially as “this year, for the first time in the history of the Show, we have a host country, Morocco”.

“This invitation follows last autumn’s visit to Morocco by the President of the Republic, which opened a new chapter, a new book in the relationship between Morocco and France”, he said. ”This helped us to multiply the prospects of cooperation between our two countries, starting with cooperation and exchanges in the agricultural field, since on both sides of the Mediterranean, we want to create the conditions for our food and agricultural sovereignty, our independence. That’s why we have so much to gain from working together,” he added.

The head of French diplomacy sees the showcase offered by the Moroccan pavilion as “one of the most concrete examples” of the potential of this cooperation, where farmers and cooperatives come to exhibit their produce to the French and international public”, he added.

Akhannouch had previously inaugurated the Kingdom’s pavilion, a showcase of the richness and diversity of Moroccan agriculture, following his attendance at the official opening of the Paris International Agricultural Show alongside French President Emmanuel Macron.

At the heart of this show, held at the Exposition Center in the French capital, the Kingdom occupies a large 476 m² pavilion, showcasing products bearing the Moroccan terroir label, produced by cooperatives with centuries-old know-how, and agricultural products reflecting the richness and diversity of this sector.

The national pavilion also showcases other aspects of Moroccan authenticity and uniqueness, with cultural and artistic events and tastings of Moroccan products and dishes.

Morocco's Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch held talks on Saturday with French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Moroccan pavilion at the Paris International Agricultural Show (SIA), where the Kingdom is guest of honor (February 22-March 2).
