Tanger Med Port Thwarts Smuggling Attempt of 1,852 Firecrackers

The suspect, aged 42, was arrested upon arrival on board a ferry from a European port, according to a security source. A search and control operation conducted inside the commercial vehicle he was using resulted in the seizure of 36 boxes containing a total of 1,852 units of firecrackers and fireworks.

The defendant was subjected to a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to determine the origin of these smuggled products and the possible repercussions of this criminal activity, the same source concludes.

Morocco's National Security and Customs officers at the port of Tangier Med foiled, on Friday, an attempt to smuggle 1,852 units of firecrackers and fireworks, and arrested an individual for suspected involvement in smuggling inflammable hazardous products.
