Running from February 14 to 16 on the south bank of the River Thames, this captivating exhibition, initiated by TripAdvisor in partnership with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), takes visitors on a unique journey highlighting sites that make Morocco one of the world’s most enchanting destinations.
At the request of TripAdvisor, young photographers Hind Bouqartacha, Imane Jamil, and Rajaa Khenoussi tried to capture the authenticity and charm of Moroccan cities such as Marrakech, Casablanca, Fez, Agadir, and Tangier. Their works are complemented by comments on these places from the online platform specialized in review sharing.
Tripadvisor has developed a partnership with ONMT over the past 10 years, and this exhibition helps to showcase ”the beautiful country of Morocco and all it has to offer to those planning their next adventure,” said Justin Reid, media director at Tripadvisor.
“This year, we challenged three local photographers to showcase their cities and give people a glimpse of Morocco through their lenses, offering visitors a new perspective on the destination,” he explained.
For her part, artist Rajaa Khenoussi told MAP that she always tries to capture the spirit of “Tamaghrabit” in her photos in a bid to highlight the different aspects that make Moroccan culture so unique.
“Walking around the cities of Tangier and Fez, for example, I photographed craftsmen in the throes of creation, as well as their creations, to showcase their know-how,” she added.
For her part, Hind Bouqartacha focused on Rabat’s historic sites, its medina’s leatherworkers, and its gastronomy.
According to its initiators, the event reflects the blossoming of the Moroccan art scene thanks to the works of young talents who portray the Kingdom’s rich cultural heritage at its best.
In addition to the magnificent landscapes on display, visitors had the opportunity to enjoy traditional Moroccan mint tea and take photos in an AI photobooth, which enabled its users to find themselves at the heart of the photographs on show.
The partnership between Tripadvisor and the ONMT, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, has already resulted in the production of two episodes of “The Wanderer,” a travel series available on Amazon that introduces viewers to the magic of the “Kingdom of Light.”
