Speaking at a joint press conference with Morocco’s Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Dati stated that the Morocco-French cultural relationship is “the keystone of our shared history and a pillar at the base of a future bringing closer our two countries peoples, particularly our youth”.

With regard to her working visit to the Kingdom, which “follows the recent state visit by French President Emmanuel Macron, at the invitation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI”, Dati explained that the visit aims “to take action and implement commitments in our priority sectors of cultural cooperation”.

In this respect, she welcomed the cultural cooperation agreements signed between the two ministries in the presence of the two Heads of State, adding that these agreements “set a very clear course for our joint action”, defining the priority sectors of the partnership, namely cultural industries, heritage and museums, books, libraries and the Francophonie, artificial intelligence and joint projection towards Africa and, on the other hand, cooperation in the field of video games.

The French minister then asserted that strengthening Morocco’s cultural and creative industries, particularly in the cinema and video game sectors, is a top priority, pointing out that culture is an economic activity in its own right, a factor in youth employment and growth.

In this context, a dozen Moroccan cultural companies will be visiting Paris in July to take part in the Cultural Entrepreneurship (Entreprendre dans la culture) Forum, she announced.

Dati deemed that cultural cooperation between Morocco and France also draws from the depths of history, as demonstrated by the agreements signed in the fields of archives and heritage.

Referring to the African continent, the French minister expressed her wish to see French, Moroccans and African partners working together in a variety of fields, including cinema and publishing.

“For France, Morocco is a real lever, a real springboard towards these countries,” she said.

French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati underlined on Tuesday in Rabat France's willingness to be a partner of Morocco in its international cultural strategy.
