Speaking at a joint press conference with France’s Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, Bensaïd underscored the excellent cooperation and partnership relations between Rabat and Paris in several sectors, describing the ties between the two countries as “historic.”
Commenting on Morocco’s participation as guest of honor at the Paris Book Festival, the Minister said that it once again reflected the strong ties between the two countries, as well as the place occupied by the Kingdom, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in its regional and international environment.
He added that successive meetings with his French counterpart bear witness to the depth of bilateral cooperation and the exceptional, solid partnership between the leaders of the two countries.
“This partnership aims to meet common challenges as effectively as possible, by mobilizing all sectors involved in bilateral, regional and international cooperation,” he added.
The Minister further said that the cooperation agreements signed on Tuesday by the two parties give concrete expression to the conventions signed at the end of October in Morocco by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Referring to Dati’s visit on Monday to the provinces of Tarfaya, Laayoune and Dakhla, he stressed that “this visit reaffirms the position of France, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, in favor of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara”.
He added that he had discussed with his French counterpart ways of promoting cultural cooperation and strengthening coordination between the two countries within regional and international organizations.
Bensaïd also emphasized the importance of consolidating the partnership between the French and Moroccan private sectors, particularly in emerging fields such as gaming, the world’s leading cultural industry, calling for greater involvement in this economic ecosystem.
Other opportunities will arise to deepen joint cooperation through the exchange of visits, he assured, adding that the agreements signed today are an added value to the cultural partnership between Morocco and France.
