This reform aims to be another milestone toward greater equity and equality, as it places the family, the cornerstone of societal cohesion, at the heart of social development, Sarria told MAP.
Driven by the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this reform modernizes the Family Code to enable the family to fully fulfill its central role within society, Sarria added.
The Spanish writer emphasized the Code’s balanced approach, which upholds equality between men and women within the family while staying true to the Kingdom’s cultural, moral, and religious values.
He noted that this reform also pays particular attention to the rights of children, reinforcing mechanisms for their protection, education, and family integration, thus reflecting Morocco’s commitment to future generations, who are the future of society.
Sarria also praised the ongoing efforts by the Kingdom to modernize its social and legal institutions, stressing that Morocco has firmly established itself as “a model and an inspiring example of regional and international leadership” in terms of social justice, civil rights, and family law reform.
The Spanish writer also commended the participatory approach adopted for the reform of the Family Code, noting that the active involvement of all societal actors is crucial to ensuring the success, proper implementation, and sustainability of the reforms.
