Moroccan, Spanish, German Police Chiefs Meet in Madrid to Discuss Security Cooperation

During these talks, held at the headquarters of the General Directorate of the Spanish Police, the three officials tackled various aspects of national and international security, including those relating to the organization of the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain, Morocco and Portugal, a joint statement said.

On this occasion, the President of the German Federal Police expressed Germany’s will to provide its expertise in security and coordination between police units, before and during match days, both inside the stadiums that will host the World Cup and in the surrounding areas or neighborhoods, given his country’s expertise in hosting similar events, including Euro 2024 and the 2011 Women’s World Cup, as well as the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

 

 

 

This meeting provided an opportunity for the main police forces of the three countries to strengthen their joint efforts and to further promote their close cooperation.

The three officials also discussed other issues of common interest to their respective countries, with the aim of strengthening international police collaboration in the fight against organized crime, human trafficking and terrorism, as well as other current security issues in Europe.

The Director General of National Security (DGSN) and Territorial Surveillance (DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, met, Wednesday in Madrid, with the Director General of the Spanish Police, Francisco Pardo Piqueras, and the President of the German Federal Police, Dieter Romann, to discuss security cooperation.
