“The 2025 AFCON draw, which will be held on Monday evening in Rabat, will be exciting. Everyone expects to know the host country’s opponents,” enthused the CAF President, as he arrived at Rabat-Salé Airport on Sunday to attend the AFCON finals draw ceremony.

“For me, it’s always very special to return to Morocco, a country that occupies a special place in my heart,” he added, expressing his thanks to HM King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, for supporting the development of football in Africa. “We highly appreciate the Sovereign’s efforts in this direction.”

He also congratulated the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, for “the remarkable work he is doing to develop football, for the good of the Moroccan people and the people of Africa.”

“When African countries, like the Kingdom, shine, all Africa is proud,” he said, adding that there could be no better venue for the tournament than Morocco.

The CAF President also stated that in 2030, the World Cup will return to Africa for the second time in its history, adding that holding competitions of this calibre on the continent contributes to the development of African football.

“Morocco showed us the way in Qatar in 2022, by reaching the semi-finals,” he said, adding that the African teams who will compete in the 2026 World Cup are sure to shine.

“Morocco has entered history, and Africa too,” he stressed, expressing his conviction that an African team will end up winning the World Cup one day.

The 2025 AFCON draw will be held on Monday evening (7pm) at the Mohammed V National Theater in Rabat.

The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, said that the Morocco-2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw will be “exciting,” adding that this 35th edition will be the most successful in the competition's history.
