This program aims to support measures related to Morocco’s resilience to climate change and the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Speaking on this occasion, Lekjaa highlighted the quality of Moroccan-German cooperation, particularly through KfW, in addressing climate change challenges and supporting the ecological transition.

He also emphasized the growing importance of climate resilience in budgetary and economic frameworks, reiterating the Kingdom’s priority of pursuing a green economy and intensifying future actions.

For his part, the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari, praised the fruitful collaboration between Morocco and Germany, particularly in the field of agriculture, considering this agreement as a reflection of exemplary cooperation.

Similarly, the Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, stressed the need to combat climate change, particularly in water management, with a special focus on desalination and water conservation.

Morocco, he noted, is committed to developing the energy sources of the future, which play an increasingly critical role.

German Ambassador to Morocco Robert Dölger remarked that the signing of this agreement symbolizes strong and exemplary cooperation, characterized by mutual trust and fruitful collaboration on a shared agenda to address major challenges.

In this context, he underscored the urgency of immediate action to tackle climate change issues, highlighting that climate concerns are a strategic priority for the future.

Regarding the Director of the KfW office in Morocco, Janne Rajpar, she stated that combating climate change constitutes a central and emblematic pillar of cooperation with Morocco.

At the end of the ceremony, which was also attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Zakaria Hachlaf, Lekjaa and Dölger expressed their satisfaction with the level of partnership between Morocco and Germany and affirmed their commitment to further strengthen it.

Morocco's Budget Minister Fouzi Lekjaa and the Regional Head of the Water Sector for North Africa at the German Development Bank (KfW – Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau), Jan Schilling, signed a €100 million agreement on Thursday in Rabat to finance the Climate Policy Support Program in Morocco.
