This pavilion, spanning 400 m2 in the main hall of the La Moneda Cultural Center in the heart of the city, showcases its expertise in the meticulous arrangement of items, highlighting the richness, diversity and authenticity of Moroccan craftsmanship, and featuring a wide array of articles that reflect the skill and creativity of Moroccan artisans.
During the first collaborative workshop held on Monday, Chilean artisans inquired about the strategies developed by Maison de l’Artisan to showcase artisanal products and support various categories of artisans in promoting their creations both nationally and internationally.
They also learned about the programs implemented by Maison de l’Artisan to preserve and enhance this centuries-old craftsmanship, a key element of Moroccan identity and an integral part of the country’s intangible cultural heritage.
Moâd Daoudia Kebdani, a mission officer at Maison de l’Artisan and manager of the pavilion, noted that the displayed items and the musical ambiance enveloping the pavilion have drawn significant interest from Chileans, who have been flocking to the La Moneda Cultural Center in large numbers, particularly over the weekend.
Kebdani explained that the pavilion is divided into three distinct sections, the first is a prestigious exhibition showcasing various Moroccan artisanal sectors, including caftans, zellige tiles, leather goods, silver and copperware, carpets, pottery, woodwork and more.
The second section features a boutique that introduces Chilean visitors to a variety of Moroccan artisanal products. Finally, the third section is dedicated to workshops, offering visitors a glimpse into the artistry of Arabic calligraphy, intricate plaster motifs, and the mystique of henna, along with the ceremonial tradition of Moroccan tea.
Moâd Kebdani noted that the henna and calligraphy workshops consistently draw long lines of Chileans eager to take home a piece of Morocco.
The Morocco Week in Chile continues until December 8 with musical and dance performances, a fashion show, and collaborative workshops bringing together Moroccan and Chilean artisans.
In addition to a business forum scheduled for next Wednesday, around ten conferences will be held across six Chilean universities, which will focus on topics such as the socio-economic development dynamics in Morocco’s southern provinces, cultural relations between Morocco and Chile, the Moroccan Autonomy Plan for the Sahara, and the prominence of the Palestinian issue in Morocco’s foreign policy.
