These accidents were mainly due to drivers’ inattention, failure to give priority, speeding and failure to keep a safe distance, DGSN pointed out in a press release.
With regard to the control and repression of traffic offenses, the security services drew up 48,461 tickets, 8,869 reports submitted to the public prosecutor’s office, while 39,592 transactional fines were collected, amounting to 586,425 dirhams, according to the same source.
The DGSN also reported the withdrawal of 8,869 driving licenses, the impoundment of 4,923 vehicles and the immobilization of 274 others.
Sixteen people were killed and 2,914 injured, 129 of them seriously, in the 2,155 road accidents that occurred in urban areas on November 25- December 1st, according to the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN).
