The agreement also covers domestic connections within Morocco, including routes from Casablanca to Marrakech, Agadir, Tangier, Fez, Oujda, Nador, Ouarzazate, Laayoune, Errachidia, and Dakhla, according to a joint statement. Royal Air Maroc customers will also gain access to GOL’s extensive network in Brazil, featuring destinations such as Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Porto Alegre, and others.
The statement highlights that the agreement will enable GOL to market interline flights to over 20 destinations in Africa served by Royal Air Maroc’s network.
“We are pleased and proud to contribute, through this strategic agreement, to strengthening the ties between Brazil and Morocco. The partnership with Royal Air Maroc opens up exciting travel opportunities in Morocco and Africa for our customers,” said GOL’s CEO, Celso Ferrer.
According to Ferrer, the collaboration allows customers to travel from GOL’s main bases in Brazil and connect via São Paulo to Casablanca and other major African cities.
Royal Air Maroc CEO Abdelhamid Addou, emphasized that this agreement represents a significant step forward in addressing growing demand in African and Latin American markets. “This collaboration strengthens our network in these two regions, offering our passengers better access to Brazil’s vibrant cities through our direct Casablanca-São Paulo route, while also enabling exciting travel opportunities to Morocco and beyond,” Addou noted.
“Together, we are committed to enhancing the travel experience and fostering closer ties between Morocco and Brazil through a broader, more seamless range of destinations,” he added.
The codeshare agreement with Royal Air Maroc solidifies GOL’s position in the African market, making it the leading Brazilian airline with the largest number of routes and frequencies connecting the two continents, which will further stimulate business and economic opportunities locally.
The agreement allows both airlines to market new offers and segments, expanding their networks and sales capacity.
For passengers, this partnership brings a host of benefits, including more competitive fare options, the ability to purchase a single ticket in local currency (for itineraries involving both airlines), guaranteed connection protection, easier flight bookings, simplified check-ins, and end-to-end baggage handling for connecting flights.
Royal Air Maroc currently operates three direct weekly flights between São Paulo and Casablanca on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Flights from Casablanca to São Paulo depart on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
Moroccan customers will also gain access to GOL’s extensive network in Brazil, which serves 65 airports nationwide.
GOL and Royal Air Maroc plan to gradually add new destinations to their codeshare agreement, expanding services in South America with GOL and in Africa with Royal Air Maroc. Soon, customers of both airlines will also be able to accumulate and redeem points in GOL’s Smiles loyalty program and Royal Air Maroc’s Safar Flyer program.
GOL, Brazil’s leading airline and a member of the Abra Group, has been offering low fares in Latin America since its establishment in 2001, democratizing air travel in the region. The airline employs 13,700 highly skilled aviation professionals focused on safety and operates a standardized fleet of 141 Boeing 737 aircraft.
As Morocco’s flag carrier in aviation, Royal Air Maroc has been a leading airline on the African continent since its founding in 1957. Its modern fleet of around 50 aircraft connects Morocco’s major airports to over 80 destinations worldwide.
