In a statement to the press following his discussions with the Moroccan Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, Abdoulaye emphasized the importance of collaboration between the two countries in developing water and environmental strategies.

He also highlighted the need to mobilize the necessary resources to implement these strategies while benefiting from Morocco’s expertise in water management. In this regard, he reaffirmed Niger’s commitment to the optimal management of water resources for the benefit of its citizens.

Since time immemorial, the Moroccan people have consistently demonstrated solidarity and brotherhood towards the people of Niger, the minister noted, accompanied by Niger’s ambassador to Morocco, Salissou Ada.

For his part, Baraka underlined that the discussions aimed to draft a roadmap to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the fields of water and sanitation. He noted that the talks also covered sharing expertise and implementing an integrated program in Niger to develop sectors related to water, sanitation, and agriculture, while improving the country’s irrigation systems.

The discussions also provided an opportunity to explore training opportunities for Nigerien experts by Moroccan experts, he added.

Morocco presents itself as a model that has accumulated extensive experience in water management, stated Colonel Maïzama Abdoulaye, Niger's Minister of Hydraulics, Sanitation, and Environment, during his visit to the Kingdom from November 18 to 23.
