These accidents were mainly due to drivers’ inattention, failure to give priority, speeding and failure to keep a safe distance, DGSN pointed out in a press release.
With regard to the control and repression of traffic offenses, the security services drew up 51,023 tickets, 9,359 reports submitted to the public prosecutor’s office, while 41,664 transactional fines were collected, amounting to 9,1 million dirhams, according to the same source.
The DGSN also reported the withdrawal of 9,359 driving licenses and the immobilization of 336 vehicles.
Thirty-six people were killed and 2,787 injured, 126 of them seriously, in the 2,148 road accidents that occurred in urban areas on November 11-17, according to the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN).
