China was crowned champion of the competition, followed by Ecuador and Morocco, Super Cérame and Sika Maroc announced in a joint press release.
The competition was held in two stages: a theory test on November 8 followed by a practical test on November 9, the same source said.
Bilal Benhammou’s exceptional performance earned him a place on the podium, confirming the depth of Moroccan mastery and expertise in the art of ceramic tile laying, against 56 competitors from 13 countries vying for the top spots.
Morocco is taking part in this competition for the second time, an initiative made possible by comprehensive training cycles combining theory and practice offered by Super Cérame, a subsidiary of Ynna Holding, the national leader in ceramic tile manufacture, and Sika Maroc, a key player in the building and civil engineering sector.
The two companies have joined forces to organize “Master Zlayji 2024”, a unique national competition dedicated to Moroccan ceramic tilers and aimed at promoting excellence in the sector.
Master Zlayji 2024 attracted 1,500 participants, setting a new record and tripling the number of entries compared to the first edition.
