“Since its return to the African Union in 2017, Morocco has always affirmed its desire to strengthen its involvement and synergies with its African partners. There is a real ramp-up in Moroccan investments in most of the key States,” French expert told MAP.

The Sovereign’s Atlantic initiative for the Sahel countries holds “strategic importance in many respects,” he noted, “mainly from the perspective of Morocco, which offers a potential maritime outlet for landlocked states, while reaffirming its wholehearted determination to bring the Sahara issue to a close. Secondly, from the the perspective of the entire Sahel zone, which is under considerable strain.”

He went on to explain that this “complementarity between the economic outlet Morocco has to offer to suffering states, paired with France’s support on the vital Sahara issue, will be one of the main development thrusts of a new triangular approach in the future.”

Delmas emphasized that the strengthened partnership between Morocco and France ” resonates and takes on special importance as both countries are facing immense immense challenges,” from both a domestic and global perspective, primarily the ecological and energy transition, followed by geopolitical challenges.

His Majesty King Mohammed VI's Africa policy is already bearing fruit across the continent with regard to economic and social development, according to French Euro-African relations expert, Guillaume Chaban Delmas.
