This latest temporary toll is based on information provided by various security forces and emergency services involved in managing the consequences of this disaster, the same source said in a statement.
At least 52 were reported dead in an earlier statement on the floods.
The Emergency Coordination Center also indicated that the process of identifying victims is underway, and the activation of the Multiple Victims Procedure starting Tuesday evening, in anticipation of a high number of casualties as a result of the floods.
“The priority is to find the missing people,” central government delegate for Castilla-La Mancha Milagros Tolón said, adding that the emergency services, supported by drones, had been working overnight to try to locate them.
Valencia City Council announced that all schools and public parks would remain closed on Wednesday, and that all sporting events had been cancelled.
