Speaking at the opening of the 10th Glion Human Rights Dialogue, Bouayach stressed the importance of close collaboration between these national institutions to translate universal standards into concrete realities, adding that this collaborative approach is crucial to meeting contemporary human rights challenges, particularly in a changing geopolitical and social context.

The CNDH President highlighted the fundamental role of NHRIs in monitoring, promoting and protecting fundamental rights, noting that effective coordination between government mechanisms and these institutions creates a harmonious framework, facilitating the implementation of laws and policies in favor of human rights.

She also stressed the need to integrate the concerns of vulnerable groups and civil society and decision-making procedures, describing the involvement of all actors as “essential” to ensure adequate protection of rights.

“On behalf of GANHRI, we welcome the recent creation of the International Network of Governmental Mechanisms for Human Rights, coordinated by the Kingdom of Morocco,” she said, adding that unlike NHRIs, these government-integrated mechanisms are dedicated to drafting reports for international bodies, as well as implementing and following up recommendations.

She also reiterated GANHRI’s commitment to promoting the protection of human rights, which “remains the fundamental, cross-cutting pillar of any human rights system, whatever the circumstances or complexity of the context.”

Synergy between National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) is necessary to guarantee the effective protection and promotion of human rights, the Vice-President of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) and President of Morocco’s National Human Rights Council (CNDH), Amina Bouayach, said in Marrakech on Wednesday.
