The visit, led by Keiko Fujimori, president of the Peruvian political party “Popular Force,” served as an opportunity to explore the region’s potential and infrastructure across various socio-economic sectors.

Speaking to the press, Fujimori said the trip to Dakhla was part of a working visit to Morocco, adding she was “impressed by the natural assets of the region and the hospitality of its people.”

“Our political party Fuerza Popular (Popular Force) has always supported Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara,” she stated, noting that the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region and Peru’s Pacific coast “share many similarities, as well as great development opportunities for the benefit of our respective communities.”

During the visit, Fujimori and her delegation met with the wali of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region and governor of the Oued Eddahab province, Ali Khalil. The meeting focused on development issues and the progress witnessed in various sectors across the region.

The delegation also met with the president of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Regional Council, El Khattat Yanja. During the meeting, they were briefed on several development projects aligned with the New Development Model for the Southern Provinces, launched by HM King Mohammed VI in 2015. They also learned about the council’s role as an elected body in managing local affairs.

As part of their tour, Fujimori and the delegation visited several key infrastructure and development sites, including the Dakhla Atlantic Port and a seawater desalination plant.

A Peruvian delegation visited the region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab on Wednesday to learn about its development progress and completed projects.
