Lower House Deputy Speaker Holds Talks with Member of African Commission on Human & Peoples' Rights

During this meeting, the discussions focused on the various measures and actions taken by our country under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to improve the situation of the elderly and people with disabilities.

The Deputy Speaker of the House also gave an overview of the role of the legislative institution in the protection of people with disabilities, whether in the legislative field or in terms of controlling government action and evaluating the relevant public policies.

For her part, Marie Louise Abomo stressed that her visit to the Kingdom is part of the preparation of a report on the situation of the elderly and people with disabilities in Africa. In the same regard, she praised the fruitful cooperation between Morocco and the ACHPR, highlighting in this context the tasks undertaken by this Commission to protect the elderly and people with disabilities.

She also called for the sharing of best practices that characterize the Moroccan experience in the field of protection of the elderly and people with disabilities with the other African countries, praising the efforts made by the Mohammed VI National Center for the Disabled to protect people with disabilities and the Moroccan experience in this field.

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abdelmadjid Fassi Fihri, held talks on Wednesday in Rabat with Marie Louise Abomo, member of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR) and Chairperson of the Working Group on the Rights of Older Persons and Persons with Disabilities, on the sidelines of her participation in the 16th National Disability Forum, held in Salé from April 8 to 11.
