Morocco Spurs Initiative to Create African Network for Social Inclusion, Solidarity & Disability

During this ministerial meeting, in which Morocco was represented by the Secretary of State to the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family Abdeljebbar Rachidi, it was suggested to hold a regional conference in Morocco to mark the official launch of this Pan-African Network.

The meeting was attended by ministers and political officials in charge of social affairs from the Republic of Congo, Guinea, Togo, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Mauritius. They took the opportunity to assess the outcomes of GDS 2025, held on April 2 and 3 in Berlin, and to review the current state of disability issues on the continent.

The gathering also provided an opportunity to highlight social progress achieved in several African countries, particularly regarding the promotion of the rights of persons with disabilities, the convergence of public policies in the social sector, and the sharing of experiences and expertise.

Speaking on this occasion, Rachidi noted that this meeting offers African partner countries a platform to exchange views and explore ways to improve social inclusion mechanisms and the living conditions of persons with disabilities.

He also expressed his satisfaction that Morocco was chosen to host the regional conference on social inclusion, solidarity, and disability, emphasizing that Africa remains a key pillar of the Kingdom’s foreign policy, which supports numerous social development projects at the regional level.

The creation, at Morocco’s initiative, of an African network on social inclusion, solidarity, and disability was announced Thursday in Berlin during a meeting of several African ministers, held on the sidelines of the 3rd Global Disability Summit (GDS).
