Presented by Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Ouahbi, on behalf of Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, the agreement aims to strengthen bilateral ties based on equality and mutual interest.

The agreement reflects the strong relations between Morocco and Malawi and their shared commitment to enhancing legal and judicial cooperation, said Government Spokesman Mustapha Baitas during a press briefing following the government council meeting.

It seeks to bolster collaboration between the two nations in the transfer of convicted individuals, facilitating their rehabilitation and reintegration into society by allowing them to serve their sentences within their home communities, in line with human rights principles and values.

The Government Council took note, on Thursday in Rabat, of an agreement on the transfer of convicted persons, signed on July 16, 2024, in Laayoune with the government of the Republic of Malawi, along with draft law No. 51.24 approving the agreement.
