“The Kingdom is a key country for Airbus. We have long-lasting relations and we aim to continue expanding our bilateral ties. It’s very important to us,” Wersch told MAP in an interview, on the sidelines of the 3rd Airbus Summit, held on March 24-25 in Toulouse.

Morocco offers numerous opportunities thanks to the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, he added, noting that the Kingdom plays a crucial role in the aeronautics sector for Airbus.

Wersch highlighted that Morocco’s 2030 vision for its airports, coupled with the hosting of the World Cup, presents a “fabulous opportunity for the country to further establish itself on the global stage.

Reflecting on the long-standing collaboration and excellent relations between Morocco and Airbus, the official reaffirmed the shared commitment to strengthening the mutual partnership.

In his view, Morocco is a good example in terms of local capabilities, and Airbus’s footprint in the country represents 70% of Morocco’s aerospace industry, with a turnover of over one billion euros in 2023.

Wersch mentioned having more than 1,000 Moroccan employees across the two industrial sites (Airbus Atlantic). According to him, that number will increase as the company is in the process of acquiring Spirit, which also has a factory in Casablanca.

Airbus's Executive Vice President International, Wouter Van Wersch, described Morocco as a key market for the aircraft manufacturer, citing its "enormous" growth potential.
