These accidents were mainly due to drivers’ inattention, pedestrians’ inadvertence, failure to give priority, failure to keep a safe distance, and speeding, DGSN pointed out in a press release.
With regard to the control and repression of traffic offenses, the security services drew up 42,314 tickets and withdrew 7,638 driving licenses, while 34,676 transactional fines were collected, amounting to 7.4 million dirhams, according to the same source.
The DGSN also reported the immobilization of 559 vehicles and the impoundment of 5,521 vehicles.
Fifteen people were killed and 2,461 injured, 87 of them seriously, in the 1,868 road accidents that occurred in urban areas from March 3 to 9, according to the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN).
