The 35-year-old suspect was arrested while driving a freight transport truck, in coordination with elements of the Royal Gendarmerie in the Tamansourt region, near Marrakech, a security source said, adding that the search conducted led to finding 14,185 “Ecstasy” psychotropic tablets in his possession.
A subsequent search of his residence in Marrakech resulted in the seizure of an additional 6,000 medical psychotropic tablets, bringing the total number of confiscated tablets to 20,185, the same source confirmed.
The detainee has been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office to clarify all aspects of the case and determine any possible links to broader criminal activities.
The judicial police in Marrakech, on the basis of precise intelligence provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), apprehended an individual with a criminal record on Friday, suspected of being involved in a case of drug possession and trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
