This meeting, chaired by Morocco’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the AU and the UNECA, Mohamed Arrouchi, seeks to equip the newly-elected members with an fundamental understanding of the PSC’s roles and duties before they take their seats within the Council.

As these members prepare to begin their three-year term on April 1, 2025, the program forms part of an induction process designed to familiarize them with the PSC’s mandate, working methods, and its relationships with other AU bodies.

Discussions will introduce the framework of the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA), the African Governance Architecture (AGA) and the Master Roadmap of Practical Steps for Silencing the Guns in Africa by 2030, among other topics.

Newly-elected members will engage with outgoing and former PSC members to exchange experiences, best practices, and lessons learned, to reflect on the key challenges to peace and security in Africa.
