Ministers, heads of delegations, and representatives of international organizations and the private sector emphasized the Declaration’s fundamental role in strengthening and promoting road safety worldwide, as well as in supporting the implementation of the commitments made at the conclusion of the conference.
In this regard, they proposed holding a mid-term regional meeting in Morocco dedicated to Africa, to be organized by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, to follow up on the recommendations of the Marrakech Declaration.
To this end, the ministers recommended the creation of an ad hoc committee, chaired by the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA), to harmonize African national policies and practices in order to upgrade their road safety enhancement systems in the perspective of the SDG-2030.
Additionally, they invited the World Health Organization, to track implementation by each Member State of the commitments made during the Marrakech Conference to submit periodic reports to the United Nations General Assembly.
In the same regard, delegations participating in the event welcomed the adoption of General Assembly resolution 78/290, submitted by the Kingdom.
Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety brought together official delegations led by more than 100 ministers responsible for transport, interior affairs, infrastructure, and health.
