“Morocco has once again shown its strength at disrupting terrorist cells in the country and foiling plots before they materialize”, Levy, who is an associate fellow at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy, told MAP.

He underlined that strong counter-terrorism operations, like the one undertaken by Moroccan security services against Daesh’s nefarious plots, “will continue to comprise an important element of any concerted effort to contain and degrade” this terrorist group in Africa.

In the same vein, the U.S. analyst deemed cooperation crucial in order to win “strategic gains” against terrorist organizations in the continent.

Referring to the cooperation between Rabat and Washington in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism, he said that Morocco is a “key member” of the Global Coalition against IS.

He concluded by underlining the importance of coordinating multilateral efforts with the same effectiveness in order to face terrorist threats in the whole of Africa.

The thwarting on Wednesday of a highly dangerous terrorist plot targeting Morocco, demonstrates once again the effectiveness of the Kingdom's "solid" anti-terrorist strategy, said American expert Ido Levy.
