Seillan highlighted the participatory approach at the heart of this reform and voiced his admiration for the “very passionate” discussions currently taking place in Morocco on this subject. Morocco is firmly committed to aligning its legislation “with the democratic standards of the moment.”

The French lawyer recalled how Morocco gives paramount importance to the family’s fundamental values. According to him, this reform also “responds to the profound and rapid legal, economic, social, and cultural changes of modern Morocco.”

He added that through these revisions, Morocco seeks to “anticipate and identify economic and social issues in order to quickly meet the needs of citizens,” reminding that “the revision was eagerly awaited by civil society, feminist organizations, and human rights associations.”

Morocco's Family Code reform, initiated under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, seeks to strike a balance between meeting international standards and respecting traditions, emphasized Hubert Seillan, a lawyer at the Paris Bar.
