Speaking at a high-level conference in Rabat on financing affordable and sustainable housing, Al-Turki highlighted Morocco’s efforts to reform and regulate the real estate sector while making homeownership more accessible.

He noted that authorities have prioritized integrating green spaces into affordable housing and promoting climate-conscious technologies to mitigate rising energy costs.

On housing finance, Al-Turki pointed to a two-pronged approach: supply-side incentives to encourage developers and demand-side measures aimed at boosting low-income households’ purchasing power.

In this regard, he called for expanded access to affordable financing and greater awareness of available housing programs.

“Sharing best practices among countries is essential for refining strategies and strengthening affordable housing initiatives,” he added.

The two-day conference, organized by the AMF in collaboration with Morocco’s Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of National Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and Urban Policy, will focus on financial accessibility, sustainable construction, and technological innovations in low-cost real estate.

The Director General and Chairman of the Board of the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Turki, on Wednesday commended Morocco’s housing policies, saying they have bolstered economic and social stability.
