During this meeting, both parties reviewed the figures related to trade exchanges evolution between the two countries, as well as the exchange of bilateral permits over recent years, according to a statement from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics.
Furthermore, it was agreed to increase the quota of bilateral permits between the two countries by 10% starting from 2025 and an additional 10% starting in 2028, to support the future growth of trade exchanges, particularly those resulting from the joint organization of the 2030 World Cup with Spain, the statement adds.
The two parties also discussed the challenges faced by Moroccan professional drivers regarding appointment scheduling and the processing of visa requests.
On the sidelines of the meeting, and at the request of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Lisbon, the issue of exchanging professional driving licenses was discussed with the relevant Portuguese authorities, where both parties agreed to further explore and study ways to activate these procedures for the Moroccan community residing in Portugal.
Both parties also praised the quality of Moroccan-Portuguese friendship and the good-neighborly relations between the two countries, reiterating their commitment to further strengthening their bilateral cooperation in the field of international road transport of goods and passengers.
