The Moroccan Press Agency (MAP) signed eight cooperation agreements with, respectively, the Burkina Faso Information Agency (AIB), the Gabon Press Agency (AGP), the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Liberia News Agency (LINA), the Mali News Agency (AMAP), the Sao Tome and Principe Press Agency (STP-Press) and the Sierra Leone News Agency (SLENA).

These agreements were signed by MAP’s Director General, Fouad Arif, with Séraphine Some Millogo, AIB’s Director General, Ghislan Ruffin Etoughet Nzuet, AGP’s Director General, Albert Kofi Owusu, Director General of GNA, A Trokon Tarr, Director General of LINA, Alassane Souleymane, Director General of AMAP, Mateus Neto Cesar Ferreira, Director General of STP-Press, Momar Diongue, Director General of APS, and Yeama Sarah Thompson, Director General of SLENA.

They aim, among other things, to give new impetus to cooperation between MAP and the eight signatory agencies, and to consolidate their professional relations, notably through the exchange of experience, expertise, training, visits and editorial services (newsletters, photos, audio, video and computer graphics).

An agreement has also been signed between the Gabon Press Agency and the Guinean Press Agency in order to promote their cooperation and bolster their professional relations.

The 8th FAAPA General Assembly, themed “African Press Agencies as Vehicle for Promoting the Continent’s Health Sovereignty,” shed light on ways of promoting and strengthening African health sovereignty to better cope with future shocks.

This two-day assembly brings together Directors-General of several African news agencies, alongside media and health experts, as well as distinguished personalities from various backgrounds. It also marks the 10th anniversary of FAAPA’s establishment, providing a platform for reflection on the future of African news agencies and the role they must play in the 21st century, with respect to their diversity and unique characteristics.

Nine bilateral cooperation and partnership agreements were signed, on Thursday in Salé, between member agencies of the Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA), on the occasion of the Federation's 8th General Assembly.
