Anwarpress EN Thursday 23 January 2025 - 10:48

The new Moroccan-German-Danish cooperation project is primarily aimed at providing assistance to territories impacted by the September 2023 earthquake, notably through improving water availability and encouraging inclusive economic development in the High Atlas region, says a joint press release.

In this regard, the same source adds, the “Sustainable territories-sustainable and resilient lifestyles in Morocco” project aims to improve participatory management of water resources, rehabilitate damaged hydraulic infrastructure, and promote innovative nature-based solutions.

Furthermore, it aims to support the population, particularly women, in creating sustainable sources of income, by promoting the responsible use of natural resources, mainly water.

The workshop, which will bring together senior Moroccan, German and Danish officials, will be marked by the organization of a panel discussion under the theme “A collective commitment to the revitalization of territories devastated by the Al Haouz earthquake”.

Focus will be put on efforts made by Morocco and its development aid partners to invigorate areas affected by the earthquake, the achievements made to date and challenges to be overcome, as well as the contribution of cooperation programs to the reconstruction of these areas.

Co-funded by the German and Danish governments, this project is being implemented by the German Development Cooperation Agency (GIZ), the press release states, adding that the signing of agreements is also on the workshop agenda.

The Ministry of Equipment and Water is organizing Monday in Rabat, a workshop to officially launch the new cooperation project in the water sector “Sustainable territories-sustainable and resilient lifestyles in Morocco”, initiated in partnership with the German and Danish Embassies in Morocco.
