Speaking at the fifth session of the Joint Grand Commission for Morocco-Côte d’Ivoire Cooperation, the Ivorian minister praised the strength and resilience of the fraternal and friendly ties that have united the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1962.
In this regard, he highlighted the impressive number of reciprocal high-level visits, the significance of investments and trade exchanges, as well as the numerous agreements signed between the two states.
This session, he noted, “is part of the grand vision of His Excellency Mr. Alassane Ouattara and His Majesty King Mohammed VI, expressing the firm will of our two Heads of State to continue strengthening and diversifying our cooperation for the benefit of our economies and the well-being of our populations.”
He added that this meeting would thus provide an opportunity to assess the progress of this cooperation and explore new perspectives to elevate it to a highly strategic level.
He further noted that during the work of this grand joint commission, both parties would review all aspects of their relations and examine draft agreements in priority sectors, which will be signed during this session.
He emphasized the goal of creating a legal framework that is as dynamic as it is efficient for fostering fruitful collaboration between Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire.
From these exchanges, indispensable tools should emerge to make the Yamoussoukro-Rabat axis a model of successful cooperation within the African space, he asserted, commending the experts from both countries for the quality of their work and their impeccable commitment during the preparation of this meeting.
Ivorian-Moroccan cooperation is thriving, with trade increasing by 76.11 billion CFA francs (over MAD 1.2 billion) between 2022 and 2023, he noted, recalling the strong contribution of the Ivorian and Moroccan private sectors.
According to him, these have successfully leveraged the Strategic and Economic Partnership Agreement signed on January 21, 2015, in Marrakech during the State Visit to Morocco by H.E. Mr. Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.
Hailing the crucial role of the private sector in mobilizing financing and investments, the Ivorian diplomat expressed satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation, particularly in the fields of education, training, security, and justice.
“In light of the shared vision and legitimate ambitions of our two Heads of State, I remain convinced that the conclusions of our work will further strengthen the historic relations between Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco, two of the most influential states on the continent due to the vitality of their respective economies,” he concluded.
