During the meeting, Driouich praised the privileged ties between Morocco and the Sultanate of Oman, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, reiterating Morocco’s commitment to boosting the ties of friendship and cooperation with Oman.
Recalling the two countries’ common ambitions to develop structuring projects in fisheries, Driouich reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to deepening its economic partnership with the Sultanate of Oman, with a particular focus on the opportunities and potential offered by the Kingdom in terms of fisheries resources.
Discussions focused on several priorities, including strengthening technical and scientific cooperation, through exchanges on sustainable fisheries management, oceanographic research and the use of modern maritime surveillance technologies, as well as the development of aquaculture through training programs and capacity exchanges in sustainable aquaculture.
Discussions also addressed the need to encourage investment, particularly in port infrastructure and fish processing, and to strengthen trade in fish products. The two parties also agreed to organize joint cultural events and set up educational twinning arrangements in fisheries.
The Sultanate of Oman also confirmed its participation in the 7th Halieutis Fair 2025, at the invitation of the Secretary of State in charge of Fisheries. This participation is set to represent a privileged opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties and develop new cooperation opportunities in the fishing sector.
