In a video broadcast during the ceremony held in Valencia by Spanish authorities to mark the end of the Moroccan contingent’s mission, Marlaska praised the exceptional commitment of Moroccan teams deployed urgently, in accordance with the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to support relief efforts in the Valencia region, highlighting that Spain will always remember this “precious assistance” with gratitude during a time of great distress.

He also underscored the importance of this solidarity, where 103 Moroccan agents made a “significant contribution” to the rehabilitation of affected areas.

These teams cleared more than 350 kilometers of networks and cleaned out 200 garages, providing “invaluable assistance” in resuming local activities, he noted.

“Your hard work, commitment, and generosity have left an indelible mark on the hearts of Spaniards, and Spain will always remember this fraternal aid and exemplary cooperation,” Marlaska stated.

The ceremony was attended by several Spanish officials, including local authorities, elected representatives, and members of the civil protection services, who unanimously expressed their gratitude to the Kingdom for this valuable assistance.

In a statement to MAP, Virginia Barcones, Spain’s Director-General of Civil Protection, expressed her profound gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for Morocco’s “decisive and effective” support in the relief operations conducted in the Valencia region.

Highlighting the responsiveness and efficiency of the resources mobilized by Morocco to support intervention teams, Barcones affirmed that “this gesture embodies exemplary solidarity and attests to the strength of the partnership between Spain and Morocco.”

The ceremony also featured the presentation of certificates of recognition to members of the Moroccan contingent in tribute to their exceptional contribution to reconstruction efforts and the support provided to affected populations.

Two extraordinary Moroccan convoys, including 37 water-pumping trucks and 103 operators, were deployed to assist with relief efforts and provide aid to the Valencia region, severely affected by Storm Dana.

Morocco's support for Spain following the floods that impacted the neighboring Iberian nation illustrates the "depth of the relations between the two friendly and brotherly countries," emphasized Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska on Wednesday.
