Moroccan Justice Minister Holds Talks with Iraqi National Security Advisor

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, deepening exchanges on issues of common interest and examining recent developments in the region, the Ministry of Justice said in a press release, adding that it also served as an opportunity to exchange views on strategic issues of common concern.

Ouahbi highlighted Morocco’s ambitious reforms across various sectors under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, reiterating the kingdom’s commitment to deepening collaboration with Iraq, particularly through the completion of judicial cooperation agreements in both civil and criminal matters.

He also stressed the importance of expanding partnerships in areas such as digital transformation, legislation, expertise exchange, and training, referencing the memorandum of understanding signed between the two Ministries of Justice on May 4, 2023.

The Minister reaffirmed Morocco’s support for Iraq’s sovereignty, security, and stability, commending the efforts made by Iraqi authorities in these areas. He reiterated Morocco’s strong opposition to any threats to Iraq’s territorial integrity and emphasized the importance of preventing escalation while ensuring the protection of all Iraqi communities.

For his part, Al-Araji underscored the deep-rooted friendship between Iraq and Morocco, praising the strong bilateral cooperation and expressing his desire for further intensification of ties in the years ahead.

Al-Araji also reiterated Iraq’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Morocco and promoting regional and global peace and stability, with a shared vision for greater prosperity and sustainable development.

 

Moroccan Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi met, in Rabat on Monday, with Iraq’s National Security Advisor, Qassem Al-Araji, who is leading a high-level delegation on a working visit to Morocco.
