The program is aimed at securing and reinforcing drinking water supplies in several towns (Ghafsai, El Hajeb, Ain Legdah, Bouderbala, Souk Lgour and M’Haya), as well as improving the performance of drinking water supply systems in several regions of the Kingdom, ONEE said in a press release.

This financial assistance is part of a fruitful and diversified cooperation between ONEE and GIZ in drinking water, which dates back to the early 80s, with the integration of the resilience component in drinking water production, the same source added.

Director-General of Morocco’s National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE), Tarik Hamane, and the Director of Germany's KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau) in Morocco, Janne Rajpar, signed a €50 million loan agreement granted by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) through KfW to finance a climate-resilient drinking water supply program.
