Moroccan-Chilean Talks Center on Water Resource Management Cooperation

During the meeting, the two parties stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation in this sector, reaffirming their commitment to sharing successful experiences and best practices.

In a statement to the press, Baraka said the discussions provided an opportunity to review Morocco’s successful experience in water resource management, highlighting the construction of seawater desalination plants and water basin agencies, in line with the High Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

The minister also outlined the Kingdom’s water projects for 2050, as well as the integrated management of this vital resource, as part of the National Water Strategy.

For her part, the Chilean minister stated that her discussions with Baraka focused on exploring new prospects for bilateral cooperation in water management.  

Highlighting her country’s notable experience in seawater desalination, Lopez underlined the need to preserve water resources, while taking advantage of new technologies to guarantee their sustainability for future generations.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of Lopez’s participation in the Future Congress, hosted by the Moroccan Parliament on December 17-18, in collaboration with the “Future Encounters Foundation,” the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic of Chile.

Strengthening cooperation in water resource management was the focus of talks held, on Wednesday in Rabat, between the Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, and the Chilean Minister of Public Works, Jessica Lopez.
