Initialed by acting director of the BNRM Samira El Malizi and director of the Palestinian National Library Aissa Krakaa, the agreement provides for holding training sessions for Palestinian executives on the digitization and restoration of documents, and providing Moroccan expertise in digital archives to the Palestinian National Library.

The signing ceremony, attended by Palestinian ambassador to Rabat Jamal Choubki, managing director of the Bayt Mal Al-Qods agency Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, and several ambassadors accredited to Morocco, was also marked by the establishment of a program of exchanges of cultural activities between the two countries, and a commitment by the BNRM to provide the Palestinian library with Moroccan publications on relations between the two countries in various fields.

In a statement to the press, El Malizi explained that this agreement reflects the Kingdom of Morocco’s commitment to contributing to preservation and conservation of Palestinian document heritage through training Palestinian executives specialized in document restoration. Thanks to its accumulated expertise in the digitization and preservation of archives, the National Library of the Kingdom is making available to its Palestinian counterpart its know-how in preserving cultural memory and safeguarding national documents and manuscripts in Palestine.

She noted that the BNRM seizes this opportunity to hand over to its Palestinian counterpart some 1,000 publications on the economic, social and cultural relations between Morocco and Palestine.

For his part, the Director of the Palestinian National Library welcomed Morocco’s ongoing commitment to preserving Palestinian cultural memory and the identity of the Palestinian people.

He pointed out that the library is a memory of the homeland and a reference point for researchers, experts and people interested in national cultural production and the country’s history.

Krakaa further stated that the agreement would equip the Palestinian National Library to better preserve its history and document heritage, thanks to BNRM’s expertise in digitizing and preserving archives.

The National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco (BNRM) and its Palestinian counterpart signed a cooperation protocol in Rabat on Wednesday, aimed at strengthening partnership between the two parties in the field of document heritage preservation.
